How to Make a Luna Triangle Super Scarf

Looking for a scarf that can go with any outfit and keep you warm? A Luna Triangle Super Scarf is perfect for you! The variety of stitching along with added triangle shapes makes a Luna Triangle Super Scarf one-of-a-kind!

Gauge: 12 sts = about 4 in. (10 cm) over Garter st (knit every st on every row).

Measurements: About 12 x 84 in. (30.5 x 213.5 cm), not including fringe
  • 1 Stitch explanation

    Yo (yarn over)
An increase that also creates a small decorative hole (eyelet) in the fabric, worked as follows:
    1. Bring yarn to front, between the needles.
    2. Take yarn to back, over the right hand needle. This creates the new st. You are now ready to proceed with the next st as instructed.

  • 2 Notes

    1.    Scarf is made from 2 identical Triangles.
    2.    Triangles are joined together by knotting ties through the eyelets created by working yarn overs. We’ve provided a diagram to clarify the assembly.
    3.    Additional fringe is added along each short end of Scarf.

  • 3 Abbreviations

    k = knit
    rep = repeat
    st(s) = stitch(es)

  • 4 Triangles (make 2)

    Cast on 2 sts.
    Knit one row.
Next Row: K1, yo, k1 – you will have 3 sts.
Work in Garter st (knit every st on every row) for 11 rows.

  • 5 Row 1 (increase row)

K1, yo, k to end of row.

  • 6 Rows 2-12

    Work in Garter st.
Rep Rows 1-12 until you have 40 sts.

  • 7 Note

On the next row you will be working a yarn over (yo) every time you knit 2 sts together. This means that at the end of the row you’ll still have 40 sts.

  • 8 Next row

K1, *yo, knit 2 sts together; rep from * across to last st, k1.

  • 9 Next row

    Bind off all sts.

  • 10 Finishing

Refer to diagram before you join the Triangles.

  • 11 Joining

Hold Triangles together, matching the yarn over eyelets along long edge. Now tie the 2 Triangles together as follows:
For each tie, cut 2 strands of yarn each about 6 in. (15 cm) long. Hold strands together and fold in half, Draw fold through neighboring yarn overs (one yarn over of each Triangle), forming a loop. Pull ends of tie through this loop and pull to tighten. Make a tie in each pair of neighboring yarn overs, then repeat to make a tie between each of the yarn over ties. Trim ends of ties evenly.

  • 12 Fringe

For each fringe, cut 2 strands of yarn each about 11 in. (28 cm) long. Hold   strands together and fold in half. Draw fold through yarn over eyelet along one end of Scarf, forming a loop. Pull ends of fringe through this loop. Pull to tighten. Make a fringe in every other yarn over eyelet along each end of Scarf.
    Trim fringe ends evenly.

    Weave in yarn ends.
